Freshen up for a popular destination vegan eatery
Loving Hut is a global chain of vegan restaurants, with over 200 locations in 35 countries. Although very large as a group, each location is independently owned and operated, allowing them to set their own menus - with a shared core value of promoting vegan cuisine.
I provided interior design services - working closely with the in-house team and also the signmaker, for updates to the shopfront. We used the branding guidelines and localised them. Materials selections reflected the low ecological impact of the food served - continuing that great storytelling to the visitor experience.
We had challenges in keeping the down time to a minimum for the business - which has been trading for many years and people travel some distances to eat there. The budget was sensible but we wanted to do lots with it.
Among the design issues are it being North facing. As a mostly daytime and early evening venue, with the possibility of pop up evening dining it needed to feel bright and welcoming. Table layout needed to be flexible and the small dining area also needed to allow visitors to order food at the counter and easily access the WC.
